Computer skills Activity club, learn coding skills to program and draw with robots!

The activity Club is run by an experienced tutor for each weekly session, children will learn something new. There is a short talk with a quick demonstration followed by a ‘hands-on activity’to challenge able children

Children will need a spare family laptop for all Computer Club activities!

Learn the basics of drawing in 3D and making 2D (CAD): SketchUp 3D and TinkerCAD. Make (toy) animations. Create coding games in Scratch, try (easy) Python scripts, program VR robots! The tutor is a children’s coding book author with over 10 years experience with educational activity clubs and schools.

This Computer Club activity club is run by the national PPUK children's charity.

Learn and explore our Club talk and demonstrations to make, create and code:

Draw big, very big 3D using SketchUp! As used by Architects!
Draw small (tiny) using TinkerCAD: ideal for 3D printed toys and gadgets!
Create a coding game in Scratch (Snap! or Squeak also make games)
Create an animated 'Toy Story' film animation using: Cloud Stop Motion!
Program a simple drawing MiroBot robot that uses a Pen or Pencil to draw!
Program a virtual VX Robot to drive and explore in 3D with live video!
Program Python 3 scripts, using Trinket to make interactive coded patterns.

Each session there will also be a collection of small toy robots to play with.

You do not have to sign up to all CLUB session activities. There are no other costs for any equipment in the club. All activity is online with supplied club passwords and all links will be provided by tutor on day.

Note: The tutor is the author of the popular LETS GET CODING book* for children. All Club project are entirely browser based and verified safe by tutor. Suitable both in and out of school - or at home under supervision. Children will need help to set a log-in password. Children will require an 'Avatar' and all passwords are provided by tutor at start of each session..

Bring any Mac/Windows/Chromebook laptop, (with a mouse and charger, on day). Notebooks and Tablets are NOT suitable for coding!, (even if with a USB keyboard and Mouse). Parents are always welcome to stay. Safety advice on keeping children safe online. See (UK) Raspberry pi (mini computers), being programmed and children can play with our interactive club toy robots in breaks. Some robots may need to be programmed first to work. We have several to play with.
